Our Focus Areas

The First Aid Club FHS — what we do and how we work to save lives.

Building early emergency response capacity

Building early emergency response capacity

A student-led First Aid Club committed to equipping individuals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond effectively in medical emergencies.

Professional and Soft Skills Workshops

Professional and Soft Skills Workshops

We equip our members not only to excel academically, but to enter clinical and professional spaces with confidence, competence, and adaptability. Through targeted seminars, hands-on workshops, and coordinated apprenticeship programs across diverse fields beyond healthcare, we provide practical exposure that builds innovation and transprofessional skills for real-world impact..

Community development projects

Community development projects

We move beyond theory through hands-on training, simulations, and evidence-based practice. Our members engage directly with rural communities by teaching, responding to real emergencies, and leading community health campaigns and resource drives—creating meaningful impact while strengthening community dignity and resilience.

Student-Led Organization

Everything we do is run by and for medical students. We believe in peer leadership, teamwork, and giving every member a chance to lead.

Whether organising a training, a rescue drill, a community event, or planning a mentorship forum; learning never stops.

Our members drive the vision, set the direction, and create meaningful impact in their communities. This ensures that our work remains relevant, authentic, and deeply rooted in student experiences and perspectives.

Past Events

What we've done

Community outreach and lifesaving initiatives
01

Community outreach and lifesaving initiatives

The First Aid Club collaborates with external organisations known for elite emergency preparedness and response including St. John Ambulance and Red Cross to deliver pre-hospital emergency care to the undeserved population through a series of medical camps and community trainings.

Research & Innovation in medical practice and education
02

Research & Innovation in medical practice and education

The club actively promotes research and innovation in first aid and emergency care. Members participate in research initiatives that explore practical improvements in emergency response, earning recognition for advancing student-led contributions to healthcare practice. Our club superintendent Mavine Omondi and his elite research team presented their work on innovative practices in higher education at the 3rd Annual International Scientific Conference on Education Management, Policy & Curriculum Studies earning praise as “bold, timely, contextual, and transformative.

Basic Surgical and Procedural Skills Training
03

Basic Surgical and Procedural Skills Training

In collaboration with healthcare institutions and training programs, the club offers hands-on sessions in basic surgical and procedural skills. These sessions introduce members to sterile techniques, suturing, and fundamental operative principles, strengthening confidence and competence in clinical practice.

First Aid Training
04

First Aid Training

The First Aid Club provides structured training in emergency response, equipping members with practical skills to manage medical emergencies before professional care arrives. Training focuses on CPR, bleeding control, patient stabilization, and safe scene management, ensuring members can act decisively under pressure.

Blood Donation Drives
05

Blood Donation Drives

Through this annual flagship program, we translate compassion into action. Our members partner with healthcare facilities, regional blood transfusion centres, and communities to mobilize donors, raise awareness, and support lifesaving transfusion services. The initiative also promotes awareness of hematological disorders, debunks myths, and empowers early, informed health-seeking—building a lasting culture of service while saving lives.

Clinical Orientation
06

Clinical Orientation

The Clinical Orientation Program introduces early-year medical students to the clinical environment they are preparing to enter. It bridges pre-clinical learning with real-world medical practice by offering guided exposure to key hospital facilities, administrative units, and core clinical departments. Through early interaction with clinical spaces and professionals, students gain clarity, confidence, and a stronger sense of purpose. The program fosters professionalism, motivation, and a smooth transition into future clinical training, laying a strong foundation for patient-centered care.

Our Mission

The First Aid Club exists to turn knowledge into action. Through training, leadership, research, and community service, we prepare students to respond competently when lives depend on it.
